Hello all, my name is Lauren and I'm from Chicago, Illinois USA. I've lived in Kigali since 2013, and I love having a place to dance! I work as a freelance journalist, and I'm also a violinist, so I'm often amidst doing something creative! I've been dancing ballet since I was teeny tiny, and then branched out to other forms of dance like hip hop when I hit my teenage years. Nina graduated from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in the United States receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance. She has been dancing since the age of three with a focus on Modern/Contemporary dance and Tap dance. She moved to Rwanda in November of 2015 to be with her husband and has since been on a never-ending search for any opportunities to perform, create and share dance with the community in Kigali. Hi everyone, my name is Elvis aka ‘Elvis Shaggy’. I am a singer, a dancer, a choreographer and a stylist. I am originally from Bujumbura, Burundi and I have been living in Kigali since 2015. I became interested in dance at the age of 8, where I was inspired by the great artists, MC Hammer and Michael Jackson. In 2000, I began to explore my passion with music by performing in cabarets, theatres and nightclubs which led me to win several dance competitions from 2002 until 2014. I have a big passion for dancing, teaching and choreographing. I especially embrace the creative movement and the physical aspect of dance. I teach: Hip Hop, Dancehall, Afro House, African Contemporary, Congolese. City Arts is a great place to let me pursue this.
